behind the blade
I’m Emily, a 30 something Marine Corps Veteran who started over at 25. I now go by The Box Dye Butcher. My chair is where insecurities go to die.
With over 150 classes in hair color, make up, hair restoration, and hair design, I’ve honed my craft into something sharp, technical, and unapologetically bold. My work has walked the runways of New York, LA, and Dallas Fashion Weeks with The Bureau, lit up Mardi Gras parades in the Birth Place of Mardi Gras, Mobile Alabama, as well as New Orleans. It has taken me to Balls and Weddings as well as countless charity events.
I specialize in vivid color artistry, hair restoration, as well as lived in color. My approach is precise like a blade, yet creative enough to blur the line between beauty and art.
Beyond the salon, my creativity spills into photography, sewing, painting, and design. For me, beauty isn’t about fitting in it’s about making sure no one forgets you walked into the room.
So welcome to my world. Step carefully, the cut is always clean.
